A new puzzle appeared: Welcome back, Keeper of the Corridor. Solve for tomorrow. And somewhere in the library, the number 7 stretched its sleepy legs and whispered, “She’ll be back.”
One 7 cracked an eye. “Rude,” it muttered.
The clocks spun backward and forward. The door groaned open.
“Psst… Lila…” a digit 8 hissed. “This way. Don’t step on the 7s. They’re grumpy.”
She clicked it.
The whispering grew louder. Ahead, a massive door blocked the corridor. It was covered in clock faces, each showing a different time. Above the door, an equation was carved in stone: Lila didn’t know the symbol for “Wonder,” but she felt it in her chest — that fizzy, excited feeling when you’re about to learn something huge.
Lila smiled. She picked up the marker and added her own equation: Curiosity + Kindness = Infinity The room glowed warm gold, then faded.
