While the English-speaking fandom simply calls them "filler," the Spanish-speaking Bleach community popularized "Rellenos" to distinguish between canon material ( Canon ) and anime-original content. What Are Rellenos? Rellenos are episodes inserted by Studio Pierrot to allow the manga to progress ahead of the anime. Because Bleach was a long-running weekly series (2004–2012), the anime often caught up to the manga, forcing the studio to create self-contained stories that would not interfere with the main plot.
