If the file isn't hosted on officecdn.microsoft.com , walk away. If you manage a single laptop with good WiFi, stick to the web installer. It’s simple.

Spend 20 minutes setting up the Office Deployment Tool once. Store that 5GB folder on your external SSD. You will save yourself hundreds of hours of waiting over the next few years.

But if you are an IT admin, a PC repair tech, or you live in a rural area with capped data?

Let’s face it: relying on the "Click-to-Run" web installer for Microsoft Office can be a nightmare.
