About two centuries later, a brilliant Persian scholar from Herat (in modern-day Afghanistan), known as Wali al-Din Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Khatib al-Tabrizi (d. 1340 CE / 741 AH), took al-Baghawi’s work as his foundation.
