The term “Dthrip” has entered the British reality-TV lexicon. To “pull a Dthrip” means to fail spectacularly but memorably. A “Dthrip edit” refers to a contestant being portrayed as more chaotic than they actually were. And every year, without fail, when the new cast enters the jungle, someone on Twitter posts the original typo screen grab with the caption: “Bring back the real Dthrip.”

For Season 03 (filmed in late 2004, aired early 2005), ITV decided to pivot away from the safe “beloved sitcom actor + former athlete” formula. Instead, they assembled a cast of eight individuals who, in retrospect, should never have been left alone with fire and each other.
Host Declan Donnelly, from the safety of a production truck, later said: “I’ve never been more scared in my life. Marty didn’t even flinch. She’s not a celebrity. She’s a force of nature.”
