In simple terms, FX Console is a pop-up command line for After Effects. You press a hotkey (usually Ctrl+Space ), a small search bar appears in the center of your screen, you start typing the name of an effect, preset, or even a folder, and you hit Enter to apply it immediately.
That takes three to five seconds. It doesn't sound like a lot, but do that 50 times a day, and you've lost five minutes of creative flow.
